What People Say

I wanted to let you know that my course materials arrived today. I must say those are some of the nicest course materials I have ever seen. In 2 years of college and throughout all my PADI training I haven't seen materials that well put together, organzied with such great images and descriptions. Thanks!

You must first complete the participant level before becoming a Science Instructor. To make it easy to achieve this prerequisite; online Science Instructor Development Courses are immediately preceded by online paricipant level courses. The total estimated time required for the online participant course is between 5 to 10 hours. Your participant material is composed of:

  • Participant deluxe collector’s binder with course manual
  • Access to the online course in the Beautiful Oceans eAcademy, containing interactive quizzes with feedbacks and a final comprehensive knowledge review
  • Computer headset with microphone for free communication with your Science Instructor Trainer and for listening to audio files

Upon the successful completion of the final comprehensive knowledge review you will receive your official 'Coral Reef Guardian' recognition card

STEP 3: Enroll and complete your online SIDC

onlinesidc_girlUpon completion of your Coral Reef Guardian course, you will be enrolled in the online SIDC. You will also receive your Science Instructor manual, containing: General Standards & Procedures; Course Review Presentation Notes; Student Knowledge Reviews and Answer Sheets; Discovery Dive and Snorkel Tour Briefing Guides; Good Environmental Practice Guidelines.

The online SIDC takes place in our Beautiful Oceans eAcademy—a fully interactive learning environment where an online Science Instructor Trainer guides you through the steps to becoming a Science Instructor and prepares you for the Science Instructor Examination (SIE).

The online SIDC involves four workbooks, which help you prepare for four exams and evaluations: the Course Theory exam, the General Standards & Procedures Exam, the Course Review evaluation, and the Dive Briefing evaluation.

Presented topics mirror the student course manual while additional information and specific SIDC quizzes help the Science Instructor Candidate learn the key points required for the exams and evaluations.

Each online workbook contains interactive quizzes with feedbacks that can be retaken without limit. This allows you to improve your scores step-by-step and to master teaching segments that will be tested during the SIE.

The online course theory workbooks provide numerous videos of marine organisms that demonstrate the key points of each coral reef biology topic.

The total estimated time required for the online SIDC is between 15 to 20 hours.

Our online Science Instructor Trainers offer sound and professional guidance whenever you need it. This ensures that you will never feel neglected and that you will always succeed.

STEP 4: Enroll & Complete your Science Instructor Examination (SIE)

"WOW is all I can say. I have learned so much in the first course, that I can't wait for the next. I just need to do my webcam presentation, and then get the rest of my assignments graded. Thanks so much for creating a great program!" Colyn Zylka, Divemaster, Delafield, Wisconsin

"I wanted to let you know that my course materials arrived today. I must say those are some of the nicest course materials I have ever seen. In 2 years of college and throughout all my PADI/DAN training I haven't seen materials that well put together, organzied with such great images and descriptions. Thanks!" Jeremy Gosnell, Dive Instructor, Oakland, California

“It's amazing that after so many years of diving your courses were able to completely change the way I look at coral reefs. Taking the Beautiful Oceans Science Instructor Development Course (SIDC) was like switching on a light.” Errol, Divemaster (38 years) Barbados

"I work in coral reef management on a daily basis, yet your course not only refreshed, but brought new insight and knowledge. For example, redlip blennies lacking a swim bladder explains a lot of the behaviour divers and snorkelers observe on the reef with respect to this little creature. I am really impressed - this is a fantastic course, and a must for any diving professionnal." Angelique, Scientist and Scuba Instructor - Coastal Zone Management Unit, Government of Barbados, 35 years - Oistens, Barbados

“I have been very impressed by the high quality of the course material available to both the students and the instructor. The material is of the highest possible quality. It is, in fact, extremely impressive." Darcy Kieran, PADI Course Director and President of ‘Total Diving’, a PADI Career Development Center, Montreal, Canada

"This new venture provides a good introduction to coral reefs. However, it also gives much information to interest experienced reef watchers. I certainly learned things from it, and I've been diving for over 20 years, have a biology degree and regularly consult a veritable library of sea-life and marine biology books. It is also refreshing to see a project with such a commitment to preserving the marine environment that they donate 10% of their profits to marine conservation."
